I am bored at the moment just thought I would throw this out see what happens... First here is some quick background info. Visa SP2 On-board 250 MB ATI Graphics Display, Dell Inspiron 1721 laptop. I have been having BSOD errors for a while. I am almost certain it is a display driver causing the crash. I have updated the ATI drivers several times to the latest drivers available. The BSOD is usually stop error code 7 or 8. The BSOD always occurs after I run Aver Media USB type TV Tuner card. I have installed the compatible and new windows drivers which add a plug-in capability for media center. This avoids me using the Aver Software suit, which when installed also crashes the sys. I have also run CCReg Cleaner and cleaned the registry Repaired start files from the CD recovery option, ran chkdsk /r and whatever else I have thought of. I have improved on the problem as the TV operates longer now before crashing the sys. I have also let Dell Support remote hook the system many times, and they are stumped as well. They say there is no fix short of a windows reinstall and I just do not believe that, the sys runs perfect otherwise. I am to stubborn to reinstall Windows as I have been trying to debug this issue for 6 months

Hi Tom, I assume you read MS KB article 137539? Judging by your troubleshooting you have, or at least a similiar resource. But, it also suggests a bad mother board under the cause tab. support.microsoft.com/kb/137539You said you were hobbling Vista and this article applies to older flavors, but it might provide some insight. MS's errors really have not wavered much over the years...if it says yer screwed, that can really only mean one thing....yer screwed.

I am checking that now... One thing that clicks hardware wise, the thing gets hot, very hot I will look into that as well. Altho I do not know a better way to cool it if that happens to be the problem.
